Work starts on Upper Hall upgrade
Real progress is being made with the planned upgrade of our church. Contractor I&K Ferguson has begun work on the Upper Hall to greatly improve insulation, heating efficiency, create better use of space, including increased storage, and upgrade toilet and kitchen provision. We are hopeful this contract will be completed by 22 February, next year, when The Highland Council has indicated that it intends to start work on converting the Lower Hall into two nursery classrooms for Crown Primary School. An early phase of this work will be the installation of a lift providing access to the Upper Hall.
We are delighted with the response from the congregation to our appeal for donations towards the costs of the major improvements we have planned for the church. With Gift Aid, the appeal stands at more than £27,000. The appeal remains open and further donations will be most warmly received. We are also grateful to The Highland Council for a donation from their local Ward Discretionary Fund and from the Olive Grove.
We are also terribly grateful to all the church volunteers who have given of their time to clear the Upper Hall in preparation for the upgrade. We were pleased to donate surplus indoor carpet bowling equipment to the Bradbury Centre in Bonar Bridge.
